Oeko-Tex Certified Clothing: What does it mean?

At Salts & West Clothing, we are proud to say that our made in Canada clothing items are Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified to ensure that they are Non Toxic. You're probably thinking, "Great, but what exactly does it mean?". By definition, Oeko-Tex is "the best known and most widespread test label worldwide for textiles tested for harmful substances." Okay, let us break it down for you. Oeko-Tex Certification is a system that is used to make sure textile products, like Salts & West clothing, do not contain any harmful chemicals.
All of our blends of fabric are OKEO-TEX Standard certified dyed. This means that our fabrics have been tested to ensure that they have NO traces of harmful chemicals. Our organic cotton fabrics are also third party certified through a GOTS certificate (more on this certificate next week)!

Some Key Facts About Oeko-Tex Certification:
1. The method of Oeko-Tex testing is reviewed annually, so they’re always up to date on the criteria to meet.
2.  Oeko-Tex is a global standard, meaning it’s the same in every country.
3.  To attain Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification, the fabric has been tested and certified to be free from harmful levels of more than 100 substances known to be harmful to human health.
At Salts & West Clothing, we are always working to create even cleaner, more ethical methods of producing our clothing. Our vision is to give our wonderful customers the confidence that the work that has gone into your new garment is fully transparent and of course made with so much love!
